Join us for a five seminar series that explores the "enduring practices" of our Christian faith. Kacy Henley will begin this series with a workshop on the psalms.
From the time of their composition, throughout both Jewish and Christian history, the Psalms have been sung within corporate and private worship. Jesus was intimately acquainted with this sacred songbook, and the earliest Christians developed approachable methods for communal immersion in this wellspring of riches. Over the centuries this musical tradition has expanded and flourished, and today we can easily join our voices in the continuing song of the Church. No musical experience is necessary to begin chanting the Psalms – Christians learned these tunes by rote for the first thousand years of church history, and you can too!
