End of School Palooza

  • Butterfield Chapel 5531 111th Ln NE Kirkland (map)

Join us for a socially distanced end of the school year celebration!

This has been such an unusual way to do schooling, and we are so proud of all the Advent kids for completing the year! You did it! We would love to celebrate this accomplishment!

Whether you are graduating from kindergarten, 3rd grade, high school, or anything in between, we’d love for you to come out and join the fun! Or if you are not graduating at all, but want to celebrate our graduates, we would love to have you too! All are welcome.

We will have a parade of decorated cars, some fun parking lot games (you will not leave your car), and a mobile photo booth!

The Parade
Arrive with your cars decorated! Decorate the front/back/driver's side of your car to make it parade ready! Make signs congratulating all the school kids in your household! Don’t have a school-aged kid in your household? Feel free to pick some to celebrate and create signs cheering for them!

Send us your address when you RSVP (email kathryn@advent.church) so we can drop off some car-decorating essentials on your doorstep, but feel free to add to those basics—get as creative as you want! Here is an inspiration picture to get you started.

Awards will be distributed after the event for the best decorated cars!

THE ROUTE
At 3 p.m. we will line up at the corner of NE 53rd St and 108th Ave NE where we will slowly drive our decked out cars (in parade fashion!) to the Butterfield Chapel parking lot. We will drive around the parking lot, admiring each other’s decorations, revealing our faces from a distance. THE GAMES
Your Car is your Team! There will be some friendly competition between cars so come ready with a team name to represent your family!

We will be offering the following game stations:

1. MAKE YOUR MARK!
Sign in to our "guest book" (using your long-handled marker) your "team name" along with your family's name.
2. HOW'S YOUR AIM?
How many people in your car can hit the bull's eye with a water balloon? (The attendant there will keep score for your family - anyone who hits the bull’s eye gets a point).
3. WHISTLE IN SPITE OF IT!
Pick one person on your team to eat a spoonful of peanut butter, and then try to whistle. (The attendant will time and record how long it takes)
4. SHOW OFF YOUR CAR!
Drive by our photographer, and stop for a photo. There will be virtual awards for every kind of decorated vehicle.
5. PAPER ZOOM!
Make sure your plane has your name on it. Park your car by the taped line. As many people in your car may fly as want to.

In between stations, there will be an opportunity to spot some summer-themed hidden objects in the parking lot. We will send you a list of what to look for with your RSVP so bring your best detective attitude! There will also be some red herrings (things that aren’t there) on the list.
