On Thursday of Holy Week, the Church begins the Sacred Triduum - three days leading up to Easter in which we encounter time in a different way as we meditate on the great work of salvation brought about through Christ’s death and resurrection. Taking its name from the Latin for “commandment”, Maundy Thursday focuses on Jesus’ instruction toward brotherly love, Christian unity, and the institution of the Eucharist. Before departing, our attention shifts toward Jesus’ betrayal and coming crucifixion, in preparation for Good Friday.
