Tenebrae (Latin for "darkness") takes its cues from the Old Testament prophets, the Psalms of Lament, and the Gospel accounts of Good Friday. Candles are slowly extinguished during the course of the service until a strepitus (loud noise) pierces the darkness to symbolize the earthquake that accompanied Christ's passion and the sealed tomb.
Parishioners are encouraged to print a copy of the liturgy and have a lit candle nearby for this Zoom service.
Please contact Deacon Jeremiah if you wish to attend this service, hosted on Zoom.
