The Man Born to Be King

  • Gillespie Home 6708 118th Place Northeast Kirkland, WA, 98033 United States (map)

In 1941, Dorothy L. Sayers wrote a series of twelve radio plays depicting the life of Christ for broadcast on the BBC. No recordings survive, but the scripts remain, published as the book The Man Born to Be King.

To read aloud a selection of these plays, we will meet at 1 p.m. on Sundays from April 28 - June 9 (skipping Mother’s Day, May 12). Bring a lunch; coffee and tea will be provided.

If you'd like to join some or all of the reading dates, simply add your name to the list on the entrance table. Questions? Please see Helen or Laura.

Audio Sample below from Jesus' first visit to Mary and Martha before Lazarus' miraculous resurrection. Martha fusses, Mary remains a bit self-absorbed, and Lazarus doubts his relationship to Life.
