The Vision

Advent Anglican is blessed with many parishioners who enjoy coming together as one on Sunday and seeking the Lord. The Pastor of Worship and Liturgy serves these people by making that encounter with God rich and accessible. They will oversee the key elements through which people experience God on Sundays inside our sanctuary. This includes thinking philosophically about how people worship, operationally about key teams like the music team, and  formation of the liturgy throughout the church seasons.

Pastoral Responsibilities

All Pastor-level positions at Advent Anglican report to the Director of Staff and Operations while receiving vision and direction from the Rector.

The Pastoral staff at Advent Anglican are anchored in four roles. Each staff Pastor is a(n):

  • Assessor: Assesses strengths and weaknesses of ministries within their domain in an ongoing manner.

  • Builder: Builds a team of Coordinators (some employees, some volunteers) through intentional recruiting; builds up those individual team members personally and spiritually.

  • Cohort: Works as a cohort with the whole Pastoral team for mutual encouragement and ministerial cohesion.

  • Developer: Develops domain of ministry with an eye to future potential and untapped present possibility.

All Pastoral staff positions at Advent Anglican include participation in the Preaching Team.

All Pastoral positions also include providing pastoral care to parishioners, particularly those aligned with the Pastor’s particular domain(s) of ministry.

Valuing Our Staff

Although it possesses the legal and organizational features of a corporation, Advent Anglican exists as a parish—a part of the one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. Our operations as a business must always seek to serve that foremost identity.

Accordingly, we see our staff members as brothers and sisters in Christ, valuing them for who they are, not merely how they perform. We desire to maintain a work culture in which staff members find their personal place in the parish undiminished by their professional role. Our intent is that the parish should remain their spiritual home, not become merely their office.
